PARISH OF ST. KATHARINE DREXEL
January 2010
Dear Parents:
In order to clarify an important matter, this is a list of the REQUIREMENTS for QUALIFIED TUITION status.
1. At least one parent must be a baptized, practicing Roman Catholic, who is Registered in The Parish of St. Katharine Drexel and must attend Mass here every Sunday and Holy Day.
(Parish registration is not included in school registration.)
For those families that are not members of St. Katharine Drexel, I ask that you provide a letter from your pastor stating that you are an active member of your particular parish. This letter must be accompanied with the embossed seal of the parish. For Catholic families who cannot provide proof of active
participation in a parish, you will be given Non-qualified status for tuition rates.
2. The child in our school must be a baptized Roman Catholic and raised as such.
3. The parent’s marriage must be recognized by the Church as valid. If it is not, the parents must take the necessary steps to have the marriage validated if possible.
4. The parents must use the parish envelopes EVERY WEEK and put AT LEAST $10 PER WEEK in the collection. Any exceptions to this because of hardship must be cleared with the Pastor personally.
5. Parents are expected to actively participate in parish/school activities.
6. There is a one year registration requirement and all of the other requirements must be fulfilled at least one year from the time the child enters St. Paul School.
7. Parents who are on the one year registration probation must not presume qualified status at the end of the year. The Pastor must be consulted for qualified status approval.
8. Qualified status can be forfeited by anyone for not maintaining all of the above requirements. The Pastor will review each qualified tuition at the end of each school year to determine the tuition status of each student for the coming year.
Sincerely,
Rev. Michael G. Dunn

Dear Parents:
We at the Parish of St. Katharine Drexel remain committed to offering a quality Catholic Education at St. Paul’s School. Over the past several years the overall increase of costs to both the school and the parish have not been addressed properly in our tuition rates. Tuition rates have seriously lagged behind in proportion to the cost of the overall school operation and the strain on the resources of the parish has increased significantly. In light of this, the following tuition has been set for the next school year.
-
ONE CHILD TWO CHILDREN THREE OR MORE
• Qualified $3525 $4700 $5660
• Non-Qualified $4715 $6652 $8350
• Non-Catholic $4715 $6652 $8350
Remember the tuition categories of Qualified and Non-qualified will replace the former categories of Inparish and Out-of-parish.
Qualified
This entails all those families who are Catholic and are either registered with St. Katharine Drexel or another parish.
The Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic Faith. As a parishioner of St. Katharine Drexel or another parish, our families are expected to worship at weekly Saturday or Sunday Mass and to contribute to the support of the parish by use of weekly envelopes and their support of parish activities. The level of support that is expected is a minimum of $10 per week.
For all those families that are not members of St. Katharine Drexel, I ask that you provide a letter from your pastor stating that you are an active member of your particular parish. This letter must be accompanied with the embossed seal of the parish. For Catholic families who cannot provide proof of active participation in a parish, you will be given Non-qualified status for tuition rates.
Non-Qualified
This entails all those families who are Catholic and not registered at a particular parish or those who are registered yet do not have a record of active participation in the life of the parish.
We will offer the following tuition payment options for 2010-2011.
1. Single payment – full payment of tuition directly to the rectory by July 1, 2010 with a 2% discount.
2. Payment Plan – All payment plans will be arranged through the FACTS Management Company. Payments will be electronically withdrawn from your bank account on a regularly scheduled, contracted basis. Plans to choose from include:
*10 equal monthly payments, beginning July 2010
*4 equal quarterly payments, beginning July 2010
*2 equal payments in July 2010 and November 2010
*Credit card payment
If you choose the single payment method, and payment is not received by the due date, you will be required to go on FACTS. The deadline for your choice will be March 1. Please give it serious thought now.
Please note the following points:
· The first tuition payment is due in July and all tuition must be paid in full by May.
· If tuition is not current, report cards and records will not be issued or transferred.
· A letter of student withdrawal will be issued after three consecutive missed payments.
The FACTS method of tuition payment is meant to benefit you by a budget plan that will make your tuition more manageable. It is important for all to realize that tuition does not cover the per pupil cost of education; our school continues to be subsidized by our parish. Last year’s parish subsidy amounted to $283,000.
Your support of our parish and our school fundraisers is all the more significant.
We shall continue to do all that we can to give your children the best Catholic School Education here at St. Paul’s School. Thank you for your cooperation and May God Bless you and your families in this upcoming new school year.
Sincerely,
Rev. Michael G. Dunn
